Plantar Fasciitis

The plantar fascia is a band of connective tissue that sits underneath your foot. Its role is to provide support to the arch of your foot.

When we do activities that our bodies are not prepared for, we can overload our plantar fascia and cause it to become inflamed.

This is known as plantar fasciitis. It will often present with the following symptoms:

     · Pain under the heel

     · In the morning

     · After prolonged standing or sitting

     · After activity

Under the care of a physiotherapist, there are multiple treatment modalities that can assist in making day to day tasks easier and pain free.

Physiotherapy can include:

     · Soft tissue release

     · Stretching

     · Strengthening calf and surrounding muscles

     · Taping

     · Orthotics

     · Shockwave therapy
